Inexpensive Valentines Ideas |

Whether you’re looking for Valentines ideas for your significant other, family, or an entire classroom, Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to break the bank! Here are some inexpensive Valentines ideas to help you celebrate affordably. A great way to show loved ones how much they matter is to turn off your phone for the entire day. If that’s too much, leave it on silent in another room. It’s incredible how much we check our phones each day, at the expense of those we’re actually with. Putting down your phone for the day may be difficult, but it’s free and a fantastic way to show the people around you that you’re paying attention to them. If you absolutely can’t put your phone down for the day, then use it to your advantage! Evidence suggests that doing something new can spark feelings of love, connection, and excitement. Download a Geocaching app and get outside! Geocaching is basically a huge scavenger hunt. People hunt for a hidden cache at specified GPS coordinates. Once they find the container, they sign and date the logbook and put it back for the next Geocacher. People also frequently leave little trinkets behind and take something from the box in a little treasure swap. Another way to share the love on Valentine’s Day is to volunteer at a local animal shelter. This can be a particularly good experience for children - just don’t let them talk you into bringing too many new pets home! Instead of buying a Valentines card, or whole box of cards for a classroom, you can quickly and easily make your own. Grab free printable heart patterns, print, cut, and then write a special message! When you use paper you already have at home these Valentines are practically free. You can also trace the templates onto construction paper or cardstock for more colorful Valentines. If you’re feeling cold in February, bring some Hawaiian Aloha to your Valentine’s Day by making a yarn lei. They’re super fuzzy, easy to make, and very inexpensive. All you need is a ball of fuzzy yarn, some cheap ribbon, and a straw! Don’t worry - the straw is just how you make the lei, not a permanent part of it. If crafting really isn’t your thing, show your Valentine how much you love them by writing them a love letter by hand. Tell them why you appreciate them and how much you love them. You can spray the envelope with a splash of your favorite perfume or cologne, if you’d like, to make it an extra special keepsake. Sometimes writing a full length letter is intimidating. If that’s the case for you, just write little love and appreciation notes and hide them where you significant other will find them. Put one on the mirror, in the seat of their car, on the coffee pot, on the microwave - wherever they’re sure to see it! Write several so they can find them throughout the day. Using one or more of these fun and inexpensive Valentine’s Day ideas will help you celebrate the holiday without breaking the bank!
